SWLA Native Gyth Rigdon Wins Epic Battle Round on the Voice!

SWLA Native Gyth Rigdon faced off in an Epic Battle against teammate Rod Stokes last Night on NBC’s The Voice. Gyth kicked off Season 16 with his 3 chair turn rendition of Dobie Gray’s “Drift Away!” Blake Shelton, Kellie Clarkson, and John Legend quickly pressed their buttons for Gyth although John Legend was taken out of the mix by Shelton’s only block of the season, coining the name “Block Shelton.” Sticking to his Country roots, Gyth joined Team Blake, and so far it is working well for him.

Last Night, Gyth Rigdon and Rod stokes performed Mitchell Tenpenny’s “Drunk Me” for the Battle Rounds. This had to be a tough decision for Coach Blake Shelton as both artists killed the performance. I may be bias but this may have been one of the best Battle Round performances of the night, between the rasp in Rod’s voice and the range of Gyth’s, it was a battle to remember. In the end America said it was too close to call, resulting in a draw on the Voice App, and Blake Shelton chose our very own Gyth Rigdon as the winner! For Rod Stoke’s fans good news was still to come as Coach Adam Levine quickly stole Rod for his own team after singing his praises. Both Gyth and Rod will move on to the Cross Battles in April for the live rounds! This is where you come in. Make sure to download the Voice App from your app store so you can play along, choose your team, and vote as we move into the live rounds of the show. It’s up to America now, and we can’t wait to see where this journey takes Gyth Rigdon. SWLA is behind you! #GYTHNATION

Season 16 continues on Monday nights on NBC 7 PM CST.
