Australian country artist Brad Cox says life away from the stage plays a major role in the music he creates. In an interview with Billboard, he described the balance he has found between touring and spending time at his rural property in central Queensland.
Cox spends much of his free time outdoors, looking after beehives, planting trees, and working around the land. Those quieter moments give him space to recharge before returning to songwriting and recording. He also enjoys sitting at the piano after a day outside, turning everyday experiences into new musical ideas.
His path to success began long before he was performing for large crowds. Cox worked on farms and took on physically demanding jobs across rural Australia, experiences that continue to influence the stories he tells through his songs. Raised in Jindabyne, he later gained national attention after winning the Toyota Star Maker competition.
Today, Cox remains focused on creating music that reflects his background while staying connected to the lifestyle that first inspired him. That mix of hard work, country living, and personal storytelling continues to shape his career.
