Many journalists and personalities got a preview this week ahead of it’s public opening on Saturday — you can see Jimmy Kimmel’s faithful bodyguard Guillermo try it above. Most of the folks who rode it seem to have the same reaction:
“I went a lot faster than I thought I would,” said Rebecca Fitzgerald.
“And you kind of like hit the side as you’re coming around the curve, so you’re really pressed up against the glass, so you see the whole world below you, but it’s not really that scary.”
AP reporter Amanda Myers rode the slide three times during her preview earlier in the week, “biffing” the landing twice with the video below being the one that seems to be making the rounds. The “Jesus” she lets out at the end of her ride really sends home what’s going to happen when normal people get ready to ride this thing. It’s a novel thing, sure, but you might have just as much fun on the slide at your local playground. You might feel just as silly too.
